For best
results, it is recommended that one texture mat set be used per 100 sq. ft.
of concrete, up to 8-10 tools. For proper alignment, there should be enough
mats to span the width of the job plus 2 more mats to begin the second row.
The concrete
should NOT contain any Calcium Chloride or any waterproofing additives that
may contain Calcium Chloride.
Design the
work as to have the long lines of a given pattern running across the line of
sight.
Establish a
reference line. Texturing is generally run in straight lines, even when
walks or drives are curved.
If using the
dust-on method of coloring your stamped concrete, DO NOT sprinkle water on
the surface during application or finishing. The necessary moisture must
come from the concrete in order to assure adequate density for the color
hardener surface.
Concrete
should be 4” or greater in thickness.

Dust masks
must be worn when using powders.
Pre-planning
will enable the work to be completed quickly & evenly. Pre-place the mats in
the pattern you intend to use along the other side of your reference line.
This will allow you to quickly grab the appropriate mat and place it in the
desired position. Once your first line of mats are down on the concrete,
your second row will follow in the same way.
Place....then
press, your first mat straight down into the concrete using a Brickform®
tamper, using no more force than is necessary to press the mat flush to the
concrete. Repeat the process by placing the second mat next to the first,
keeping them tight together until firmly in place. Repeat this using as many
mats on hand.
Textured
concrete should be left to set for at least 3 days.
After 3 days,
the excess parting agent should be washed off the surface of the concrete.
Allow to cure
for 30 days, then seal with an acrylic based sealer, to prevent the color
from wearing away and to bring out the richness in the color. |
